I walked by one of the buildings to see this huge pile of broken office chairs. I thought - wow - the troops must be pretty rough on these things for there to be a whole pile of these things to create a virtual 'chair repository' of cloth, wood, metal and plastic. It was like a rumble had broken out in an office building, and the suits began throwing chairs at each other... just like in the Westerns! I thought - 'geez, the troops ought to calm down!'... until a funny thing happened. Here we were - sitting at a meeting and listening to the briefing. One of my colleagues was leaning back comfortably in this chair - soaking in the points, and like all of us - pondering the slides on the presentation and considering the tasks we were being given. All of a sudden - we all heard this loud sound of fragmenting and splintering wood: 'CRRRRRUNCH!' Being surprised everyone looked in his direction to see him falling in a total backward somersault. His chair back had broken and simply gave way! I ran over to him to help him up whilst everyone around me was saying things like: 'What the...?!', 'Are you okay?!' and 'Geez - these are really (garbage) chairs!', etc., etc.! We all had a good laugh as my colleague dusted himself off, and grabbed one end of the twisted plastic, metal and fabric that once served as an office chair and walked it out of the room, pulling it behind him, as the wheels caused the wreck to bang into each piece of furniture on the way out. Minutes later (after having complained about the cheap chair to someone), he re-appeared with a brand new chair of the same make and style. We all thought: 'Haha! Great - let's see how long this one lasts!'. Immediately we noticed how this 'brand new chair' was already tilted to one side - which, when you sat in it - would have your spine twisted in an 'S' if you sat in it. 'Ah - whatever' we thought - 'at least we have a chair!'. Then - more discussions about stupid, cheap chairs, laughter, and banter.... The chairs first 'guest' ebded up being this really muscular fellow who came in and sat in it to discuss something with us. 'Hey - have a seat in our brand new chair!' He sat in it for 15 minutes - leaning back on it like any normal guy would. When he left, we noticed - the bracket between the chair and the wheel part of the office chair had had 2 of it's 4 screws completely snap off! The guy almost ended up doing a backflip! So - now we have another busted chair. Two in the same day!
So what's the moral of the story? I dunno. Can you come up with something clever? Please go ahead and post... but be polite! (Haha!) ;)
