Back to School... soooon!

I get the Canadian Tire e-Flyer... just to remind me of things normal.  Believe it or not, we have this 'Sears Catalogue' type of thing kicking around of the furniture, etc. we could order from the 'American PX' (Post Exchange) - it's like our local store here.  The believe it or not part is how often it goes missing!  People like to look at it - probably to do a little dreaming of the leather couches, plasma TV's, electronics, they could buy... but really won't because we're here.  Anyways - the Canadian Tire e-Flyer tells me: It's Back to School!  (Yay!)  I can hear the commercial now: 'It's the MOST Won-der-ful Time... of the Year!'  (Haha!)  Well, my students - put it this way - at least you aren't here!  Since it's back to school time, the children here are also going to go back to school.  The admission 'ticket' to go to school is that they be in possession of a writing instrument... like a pen or pencil.  When our patrols go out, the kids go crazy when the soldiers are handing out pens!  They WANT to go to school!  Unfortunately, sometimes they can't because it is too dangerous for them to go.  The insurgents often destroy schools - some of them really have a problem with education.  I have heard of a school where the students want to learn so much, that despite the fact they have no building, they all gather around in an open field to listen to a teacher.

Anyways - your teachers are now prepping your classrooms and getting their lessons together.  I'll really miss that.

Well - the weather here is getting better.  At a briefing they announced the temperature was dropping to 36 degrees. We all joked about how that was freezing!  (Better get our parkas out!).  Once I thought to myself - wow - it's really cool outside.  I pulled my thermometre out to see it was only 28 degrees!  Wow - my frame of reference for what is cool (and what is cold) has changed!  I hope that doesn't damage my being a real Canadian!

I've been hanging out with guys from many nations here.  It's weird what you learn and what you pick up.  Already I'm calling a truck a 'wagon'.  Once Dutch soldier introduced me to putting chocolate sprinkles on to peanut butter (on bread)!  Mmmm!  At the Dutch store here you can get that.  Weird enough - they do not serve peanut butter where we eat.  The peanut butter was sent in from the Netherlands.  Maybe you can give it a try!  (Not too much though... unless you're doing serious gym time!  Haha!)

One note for my Cadets: '2Lt(DLS) M.G. is hereby awarded the DLSCC VSM(AF)!'  (There - it's official!  Hahaha!  As tradition dictates (all together now): RING THE BELL!!!)  Hahaha!  ;)  Have a great start to the year DLSCC!  Congrats 'recon_IceMan!  ;)  (Cue the 'Top Gun' Soundtrack!)

Hey sir!
Boots here. Just writing to tell you that LCpl J.S. and myself dropped by the School yesterday. We cleaned out the office a little. We decided to take a look at good old rm 103. We are going to ensure that when you come back the room is exactly how you left it.

My diving trip went well everyone was seemed very proud to hear what you are doing over there. Seeing as Brockville is right on the border there are A LOT of our flags flying. Because I have a very slow internet connection i will send the pictures and videos on a CD by Snail mail. I will try to get the address from the office.

Well it's getting late and i have to get a hair cut tomorrow (my parents forced me to grow it long because i get it cut so often during school.)
Yours,
Boots

Hi Sir,
Sounds like things aren't bad. Its funny that you say the weather is so hot, I wish we had that kind of weather here. I also went to Jamaica it was really nice i got to see family and now I'm really dark. Also if the 2Lt is getting an award i think its only tradition to do this:

"THATS A ROUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH *COUGH COUGH COUGH* *DRINK* AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

Now it feels like a real round doesn't it?
Well, take care, we all miss you.
